What if you are unable to pay?

If you are having trouble making your student loan payments, contact your student loan servicer(s) or contact Edamerica as soon as possible. Your servicer can advise you of your options. If you don't make your payments, your loan(s) could eventually go into default, which could be very damaging to your credit and have several negative consequences.

What if you are unable to pay?

You may be able to change your repayment plan, to a plan such as Extended Repayment or Income-Based Repayment, in order to lower your payment amount.

A deferment or forbearance might be an option in temporarily postponing your payments. There are limits on the amount of deferment and forbearance time available to you. There are also special circumstances, such as Teacher Loan Forgiveness or Total and Permanent Disability, in which loans may be forgiven, cancelled, or discharged.
